Transport in Paris
Return to
Tourist Information
RER.
The express rail service crosses Paris and links the centre of the city
with the suburbs. The service runs from 0530 to 0030.
Metro.
The biggest and most efficient underground system in the world. Lines
are colour coded which helps make the system easy to use. The only
information you need is you're destination. There are plenty of trains
as they run every few minutes, the system is cheap and efficient making
it excellent value for money.
Buses
Like the Metro the bus system is easy to use, operating a simple number
system, remember to get a map of bus routes from the tourist office.
Paris buses operate from 0630 to 2030, some buses do run latter.
Taxis
Taxis in Paris are quite reasonably priced however fares can mount up in
heavy traffic. When a taxi shows a white light this means that the taxi
is available to hire. It is common to leave the driver a time of around
20 per cent.
Walking
The best and of course the cheapest way to see all of Paris, however
take care as Parisian drivers do ignore pedestrians.
