If you come to Paris in search of bargains then you will leave disappointed, Paris is an expensive city with shopping no exception. There can be no city in the world that offers you as many designer shops as Paris, unfortunately many of the items are beyond the means of most people.

In the smaller street you will find shops specialising in designer hats, toys, leather and antiquarian books, it is these shops that a keen eye can bag a bargain.

Like any other city i the world Paris has its share of department stores, one of the biggest is the Galeries Lafayette a huge department store once described as the 'Louvre of department stores'.

Shops in general often close on a Monday and Sunday, food stores remain open all week. Paris shops often stay open late with the Galeries Lafayettee staying open till 2100 on Thursdays.
